कर्नाटक-belgavkar : म्हैसूर येथील चामुंडेश्वरी डोंगरावर असणाऱ्या चामुंडेश्वरी देवीचे मंदिर आणि परिसराला ऐतिहासिक महत्त्व आहे. त्या ठिकाणी जगप्रसिद्ध दसरोत्सव होतो. देवीची मूर्ती सोन्याच्या रथात बसवून तिची मिरवणूक व्हावी, अशी मागणी भक्तांची आहे. विधान परिषद सदस्य दिनेश गुळीगौडा यांनी याबाबतचे निवेदन दिले होते.
त्यानुसार म्हैसुरातील चामुंडेश्वरी देवीच्या सुवर्णरथासाठी प्रस्ताव पाठवण्याची सूचना मुख्यमंत्री सिद्धरामय्या यांनी धर्मादाय खात्याच्या अधिकाऱ्यांना दिली आहे.
तमिळनाडुतील कोईमत्तूर येथील भक्तांनी दिलेला लाकडाचा रथ जीर्ण झाला आहे. त्यामुळे सोन्याचा रथ तयार करण्याची मागणी भक्तांची असल्याचे गुळीगौडा यांच्या निवेदनात म्हटले होते. गेल्या अनेक दिवसांपासून या निवेदनाबाबत विचार करण्यात आला नव्हता. आता याबाबतचा आदेश देण्यात आला आहे. याकरिता १०० कोटींचा खर्च अपेक्षित आहे. अनेक भक्त यासाठी देणगी देण्यासाठी उत्सुक असल्याची माहिती मिळाली आहे. पुढील वर्षीच्या दसरोत्सवावेळी सुवर्णरथातून देवीची मिरवणूक काढण्यात येणार आहे.
The 2019 proposal to provide a Golden Chariot (Suvarna Ratha) for Sri Chamundeshwari Temple atop Chamundi Hill, Mysuru, has been revived.
Now, in 2024, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed the Principal Secretary of the Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department (Muzrai) to submit a proposal for the chariot. This move follows a memorandum by MLC Dinesh Gooligowda, who emphasised the long-standing demand from devotees for a Golden Chariot for the presiding deity.
The Chamundeshwari Temple is a Hindu temple located on the top of Chamundi Hills about 13 km from the palace city of Mysuru in the state of Karnataka in India.
Chamundeshwari Temple is Karnataka's official state goddess,It is located on Chamundi hills near Mysuru,at an elevation of 1074 meters above mean sea level.
Atop of the hill the famous Sri Chamundeswari Temple. ‘Chamundi’ or ‘Durga’ is the fierce form of ‘Shakti’. She is the slayer of demons, ‘Chanda’ and ‘Munda’ and also ‘Mahishasura’, the buffalow-headed monster.
She is the tutelary deity of the Mysuru Maharajas and the presiding deity of Mysuru. For several centuries they have held the Goddess, Chamundeswari, in great reverence.
‘Skanda Purana’ and other ancient texts mention a sacred place called ‘Trimuta Kshetra’ surrounded by eight hills. Lying on the western side is the Chamundi Hills, one among the eight hills.In the earlier days, the Hill was identified as ‘Mahabaladri’ in honour of God Shiva who resides in the ‘Mahabaleswara Temple’. This is the oldest temple on the hills.
